Rain or Shine
.
In this day and age, there are so many different jobs that someone can do
to earn a living. If
I was to state even a fraction of a percentile of all the jobs
that can be done, it would take up
more space than probably three articles of
the length of this one. Most jobs that can be done,
ARE done, Rain or shine.
Wether it's storming out, or the weather is bright and beautiful, the
job that
you will do can be done. But when it comes down to it, there are very few that
can be
done from the comfort of your Den or Home Office, sitting in front of
the computer with a hot
cup of coco, all warm in the task chair, with a blanket
wrapped around you in your p.j.'s as you
languidly read over your stats.
That, would be the power of affiliate marketing. Rain or Shine,
come hail, sleet,
snow or ice one can sit down at their computer, even in the hottest of the
summer months and write, or point and click their way through their different
systems, checking
one thing or another and fine tuning their business. Personally,
for a beginning marketer like
myself, with only a free-site and someone elses
products, this job is a God-send. I can't even
call it a job.
We all know the definition of job right? Well, for those that don't, job is
commonly
refered to as a just over broke.
J.O.B..
Kinda a funny name for
something that is supposed to provide foodto your table and a roof
over
your head. Seems to ME, in MY experience, a just over broke barelyput
food into my
belly. Not to even mention that when it came down to it, I lost work in the winter as the
industry slowed down. See, I used to be in the construction industry.
In that industry, they hire
in the spring and fire in the winter. Or
"lay-off" as they like to call it. It's just another way to say
"come back again when there is more money for you." After about 6 years of
not quite
making an entire year, of consistently being layed-off at the holidays,
off doing jobs I absolutely
despised, I decided enough was enough!
But what was I supposed to do?? I don't have the technical training, though I
am an excellent
typist, to take a job in an office environment. I couldn't even
continue with the construction
industry any longer as a part time or seasonal
effort after my work vehicle got stolen and along
with it, my ability to pay
for certain tools that I had just hocked to get another vehicle running.
Sometimes I would hock my tools, to attain the funds to get things done when
My construction job
wasn't paying or wasn't paying enough. That is a flaw
that sank me eventually.
Well, to answer the
above question, I personally turned to sales. Which, even
though sales don't stop in the winter, I
found that I did.
Why?
Well, you try
running around in the whipping wind and the freezing rain going door to door
to talk
to people that would rather, other than their inherent need to be polite,
slam the door in your face
than sit there and listen to you talk about how you
can get them the best windows for their home
in the industry. I had already
known about the internet, so, as far as that went, I simply didn't have
the
tools for that either. Well, the weather killed it for me, when it comes to sales.
At least sales in
the face-face direct sales industry. Or, worse yet, standing on top of a 2X4 wall, putting in eve
blocks in the pouring rain and whipping wind, over 8 ft. or MORE in the air. So, I did
something that
most can't even imagine.
I couch surfed. After awhile a friend had me at his house
for awhile, but
that wasn't doing me much good. I could get on his computer, but dayum it if it
wasn't that he wanted to be on it all the time. Then another friend gave me
his old one. One that was setup to run the net and keep a certain amount of
information so that I could chat or whatever.
Now, this was my first
computer of my own and since I attained it I wondered why I never
bought
one myself. The answer to that was painfully clear. I never could afford one.
Now, you
might be wondering what the hell is it that I am writing this on?
Well, not that old 233 that I got
from my friend to be sure. This computer,
is my MOMS...
Okay, so when did this happen?? Long story short, I moved to
Redbluff with another friend, but
due to my life experiences, apparently I
wasnt patient enough with his little brother, whom is
mentally disabled. So I
moved to my parents. AGAIN. Something I never wanted and I am sure
some
of you can never imagine doing.
Well, after exploring some more on the internet, as I knew that it
would HAVE to contain some
information that is useful to earning a
living, I mean, after all, look at all the millions of sites that are
up!
All of them have some sort of service that they can offer. Of course
they do, and these services
and products, as I found out, come both
freeand paid, depending on the restrictions. They also
tend to contain
ad's for the free services. Those ad's are affiliate ads, usually, or
they are ads that
another service elsewhere has paid for the space.
Suddenly I realised that thesepeople also, aren't
sitting at their desks
24/7 either to get this stuff done. I started hearing and learning about
auto
responders and so forth. So now I know that it can be auto-mated.
Now, onto My quest. I started
an even deeper search and one night, a friend
of mine tells me of this "submission magic" search
engine submitter, but
you have to join an affiliate program. Okay, whatever, that's fine. So
there
went the first 30 bucks I ever wasted on the inter-net. I don't
even use the submitter anymore. It
doesn't do me any good. I keep forgetting
to resubmit everyweek.
So, I kept up the search and
eventually, it all brings me into this
specific circle of niche marketers, starting with a woman by the
name of Janet Legere.
Hi Janet!!
Okay, now I don't know her well
personally, but she is on My contacts list, mainly, because as a
list
builder, she saw me post to a safelist, I suppose that she is a part
of and e-mailed me, asking
for more contact and to be added to my
contact list and if she could add me, to her list. I didn't
see anything
wrong with that, maybe she has some answers. Ya know what I found
out??
Oh, boy, does she have some answers. That elusive list, that everyone
says that if they didn't have
anything else left over, they wouldn want
that list. She is one of the best people in the world for
teaching you
how to build it.
Now apart from that, I ran into a couple snags. You see, when I first
started this, I was working on a ZERO advertizement budget. In order
to do this, I managed to
research a TON of different resources and
programs that one can join forabsolutely ZERO cost to
their advertising
or products budget. You can operate these businesses(really just affiliate
programs)
for absolutely nothing. Except time. Except effort. Now of
course, the effort you put intothese
businesses are not the type of
effort that you put into other work. ALOT of this effort you invest
is a one time investment, with follow-up.
What do I mean by that?
Well, for starters, when you set up your lead
capture system, you tend to set it and forget it.But it
takes a TON of
effort to get it just right. When you set up an ad somewhere, or submit
your site to
the search engines for indexing, it takes a little more effort,
but not much, you just have to
check on occasion and resubmit,or sit
down and write some more content for your site. Like this
article. I am
writing this article and its nice and sunny outside. In fact, right now, in
California,
near Monterey, it is about 70 degrees and 1:44 P.M. in the
afternoon. But that is follow up.
When you gain a new customer, you
also want to auto-mate your follow up, so that if you get them
at 3 in the
morning, as you sleep, you don't have to worry about wether or not you
might lose them,
taking too long to reply. Follow-up. Sometimes as easy
as pushing a couple lil html buttons.:-)
I can work this job, day, night, afternoon, 2 in the morning. I can work this
job when it's sunny
and warm, or icey and cold. I can work this job any time
that I feel like it and have the faith that
it's doing what it's supposed to be
doing. It is all because of automation. I can work this job any
time of night
or day, any time Rain or Shine and still, be comfortable in my own room.
Rain or Shine.
Comfortable at Home.
The appeal of the affiliate marketing lifestyle.
